England's top doctor warned that A NO DEAL Brexit could cause dying
patients. The United Kingdom could be affected by a shortage of life-saving
medicines and medical equipment.
A day after
the doctor talked about banning eating and drinking on buses and trains to
tackle obesity, came her dire warning that the country could be hit by a
shortage in life-saving medicine and medical equipment. The Chief Medical
Officer also warned about the nation's health, that Brits could die if no
Brexit deal is done.
“The health service and
everyone has worked very hard to prepare. But I say what I’ve said before, that
we cannot guarantee that there will not be shortages not only in medicines but
technology and gadgets and things. And there may be deaths, we can’t guarantee
there won’t”, told she the BBC Radio 4 Today Programme.
In order to ensure that the
supply of medicines is not disrupted, a special support unit will be set up. Drugs
and equipment have been stored and their import will go to the front row of the
border guard if there is a "No Deal".
